American astronaut with Israeli father blasts off for space mission

NASA astronaut Jessica Meir, the daughter of an Israeli father and Swedish mother, blasted off from Kazakhstan on Wednesday for the International Space Station, where she will serve as a flight engineer.

This will be the first ISS mission for Meir, who will spend the next six months involved studying the impact of gravity on the human body and conductiong oyther research.
