The new Sundanese Minister for Religious Affairs, Nasr-Eddin Mofarah, called on Sunday for the country's Jews to return and help with the country's rehabilitation following the toppling of dictator Omar al-Bashir back in April.

"I call upon all Sundanese Jews who were forced to flee our nation to return", said the minister to Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya.

Mofarah explained that enormous pressures was put on the Jewish population during the military rule in the country, causing them to flee. "Now with the new civilian government and the blessed revolution, we call upon all Sudanese people, including Jews, to live in our country as equals", added the minister.
