Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri said that during Monday’s meeting of right-wing parties, he proposed a possibility of holding an election directly between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz for the post of Israel’s premier.

Deri said Netanyahu had refused the proposal.

After the meeting, the right-wing bloc issued a joint statement urging Gantz to form a unity government, adding that they will only join his coalition as a bloc.
