IDF: ceasefire goes into effect, focus goes now to northern front

Israel and the Islamic Jihad have reached a ceasefire agreement after two days of fighting and the IDF will now focus its efforts on the northern front, IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed on Thursday.
"We face a great challenge against Iran, and we have taken advantage of this window of opportunity in to tackle the Iranian front, " read the statement. "The IDF needs to focus on the northern front".
The ceasefire went into effect at 5:30 AM and ended a round of violence that had started Tuesday morning, after the targeted killing of Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Atta in a predawn IDF airstrike in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF confirmed that Operation Black Belt, starting with Abu al-Atta's assasination, was supposed to serve a severe blow to the Islamic Jihad – a goal that reportedly was reached "fully, quickly and within 48 hours".
