White House condemns Iran over use of force against protesters

The White House on Sunday condemned the use of force in Iran after two days of demonstrations against a spike in gas prices that killed at least two people and forced Tehran to cut off Internet access.
"The United States supports the Iranians in their peaceful protests against the regime that is supposed to lead them," said White House Communications Director Stephanie Grisham in a statement. "We condemn the use of force and the restrictions on communications against demonstrators," she added, denouncing the excessive use of force by a regime that "abandoned its people".
