"Islamic Jihad growing stronger", said the IDF commander for the southern brigade in the Gaza Division, Brig. Gen. Liron Batito.
Batito met on Sunday with several Eshkol Regional Council officials, for the first time following the latest fighting between Islamic Jihad and Israel last week.
"Islamic Jihad is increasing its military capabilities", said Batito during the meeting.
"The decision to eliminate a senior official came after we understood his prompting of terrorist actions against Israel. The objective was to hurt Islamic Jihad. We weren't surprised by their fighting capabilities."
