Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan said the decision by the U.S. administration to repudiate a 1978 State Department legal opinion that held that civilian settlements in the occupied territories are “inconsistent with international law" is a positive move that will help counter boycott efforts by organizations such as the BDS.
Minister and member of the Israeli Knesset on the right have applauded the move saying it facilitates annexation of parts of the West Bank as promised by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his last election campaign.
