Ophir Pines-Paz, Labor

Ophir Pines-Paz is a Knesset member and a leading member of what is considered the "young guard" in the Labor Party.

 

He has been a Knesset member since 1996. During his tenure he has chaired and served on many Knesset committees. In the government of Ehud Barak, Pines-Paz was coalition chairman.

 

Prior to his election to the Knesset, Pines-Paz served as Labor Party Secretary General, Chairman of the Authority for Prisoner Rehabilitation, and Deputy Director General of the Immigration and Absorption Department at the Jewish Agency.

 

In 1997, he received the Amitai award for honest management and integrity.

 

Pines-Paz has a B.A. in International Relations from Hebrew University and an M.A. in Public Policy from Tel Aviv University.

 

Born in 1967 in Rishon LeZion, PInes-Paz is married with two children.
