VIDEO - The two IDF soldiers who were kidnapped by Hizbullah terrorists on Wednesday are Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. The Regev family of Kiryat Motzkin and the Goldwassers, from Nahariya, will now have to face what is presumed to be a long period of uncertainty. Eldad’s mother passed away a few years ago, and he has been living with his older brother and working for Bezeq. Meirav Shapira, a relative, arrived at the family home on Issachar Street. “Eldad is simply amazing. We are still finding it difficult to grasp what is happening and are hoping for the best,” she said. Neighbor Simona Ada has known Eldad since he was a baby. “My daughter went to school with him I can’t believe it he is a sweet, quiet boy who lost his mother a few years ago,” she said. Eldad’s brother refused to talk to the press, but Ada told of a somber atmosphere in the household. “I hope his mother prays for Eldad’s release from heaven,” she said. 'The rumor spread' Another neighbor, Loni Hod, realized something was amiss when a herd of photographers gathered outside the Regev residence. “I can’t believe this is happening,” he said. Members of Eldad’s congregation arrived at the family after hearing of Eldad’s abduction. Bnei Akiva youths sat at the entrance to the house and recited Psalms. Moti Brumberger regularly sits with Eldad each Friday at Synagogue. “Eldad rarely spoke of his life he is a tall, impressive man, yet humble,” he said. “I heard of the kidnapping from other friends at Synagogue. The rumor spread, and I decided to make my way to the family home to see what’s going on. Eldad comes from a religious family. I am convinced that they believe he will return home safely. We believe in God and trust him." Ehud Goldwasser’s parents are currently residing in South Africa for work, and IDF officers who arrived at the family home on Arlozorov Street in Nahariya’s were greeted only by Ehud’s younger brother. Ehud’s other brother is traveling in India. Ehud works at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) in Haifa. During the first few hours of the incident along the northern border it was believed that Ehud was in the tank that drove over a bomb while searching for kidnapped soldiers, but later it became known that he himself was one of the soldier’s kidnapped in the incident.
