Poster reading: Multi-murderer to be freed

Posters: Free Yigal Amir like Barghouti

Right-wing activists plan to launch public campaign promoting release from jail of Yigal Amir, assassin of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and his brother Hagai

Posters calling for the release of Yigal Amir, convicted for carrying out the assassination of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and his brother Hagai, were found on wall across Jerusalem on Monday morning.

The posters feature a picture of a smiling Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, and call for the release of the Amir brothers under similar plans to release Barghouti.

"He is being freed while Yigal and Hagai are rotting in jail," the poster read.

Right-wing activists said their campaign is being funded by an American donor who is interested in seeing the Amir brothers free should the government decide to free Barghouti in the frame of a prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinians.

Flyers reading "The Committee for Democracy" and calling for the release of the convicted brothers were also spread in parts of the city.

An activist told Ynet: "That's the first bullet in the struggle. It is unforeseeable that the state frees despicable criminals, terrorists with blood on their hands, while Yigal and Hagai Amir rot in jail. We are not comparing. For us Barghouti is a million times worst, but if they are freeing, they need to free Yigal and Hagai and other nationalist prisoners."

Ynet has learned that the mysterious donor who funded the campaign is willing to invest tens of thousands of dollars on similar campaigns if the government decides to free Palestinian terrorists.
