Baby dies after being left in car

Heat wave claims first victim as six-month old baby girl left in car dies of heat exposure. Emergency services warn against leaving children alone in cars

A six-month old baby girl died Thursday after being left in a parked car near a garage in Kibbutz Shaar Haamakim.

Emergency services were called to the scene as soon as the baby was discovered and she was taken to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Her death was pronounced en route.

"Upon arriving on the scene we found a six-month old baby with sunburns. She was not breathing and the kibbutz's doctor was performing CPR on her," Magen David Adam paramedic, Raman Hacham told Ynet.

An initial police investigation revealed that the baby's father arrived at the kibbutz's garage to have his ATV (all terrain vehicle) fixed, left his daughter in the car and went about his business.

According to eye witnesses, the baby was left in the car for quite some time. When her father noticed her condition he called the kibbutz's doctor.

"We warn parents every summer not to leave their children alone in cars. It's a shame to see these unnecessary deaths every year," added Hacham
