Tuba-Zangariyye, Reine council heads attacked

Unknown assailants open fire at office, torch car of northern council officials. 'I am very disappointed,' says Zvi Fofel, head of Tuba-Zangariyye appointed council

Anonymous perpetrators on Saturday night and Sunday morning attacked the offices and vehicles of the northern villages Tuba-Zangariyye and Reine's head of councils.

Reine's Head of Council Adnan B'soul complained Saturday night that unknown assailants fired shots at his vehicle. The car sustained light damages, and no injuries were reported. During a police search, an un-detonated fragmentation grenade was detected nearby the vehicle.

Hours later, faceless assailants opened fire at the office of Tuba-Zangariyye's council head. The structure sustained damages, yet no injuries were reported. During the same time, the Head of the Appointed Council Zvi Fogel's vehicle was set on fire. The vehicle was completely torched. Fire units who arrived at the scene managed to control the flames, which began to spread, damaging a few trees in the area.

"Suspects have yet to be detained and we are following a few different leads. The head of council was in the building at the time of the shooting, but was not injured. We collected testimonies from the head of council and from people who were in the nearby area. We are also looking for the escape car," said Police Superintendent Nir Ekron

Following the events, Fogel told Ynet he felt very disappointed: "I've been here for a whole year with the sole purpose of assisting the residents of Tuba-Zangariyye with the difficulties they encounter dealing with government offices and to allow the local council to operate properly and supply services for its constituents. These are the actions of the most radical fringe."
