6.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Turkey, Greece

Turkey's seismology center says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 has hit an area off Turkey's Aegean coast.

 

The earthquake was felt in Istanbul and neighboring regions, but there was no immediate report of any damage. The Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory says the quake occurred at 4:16 pm (14:16 GMT) Tuesday off the coast from Turkey's northwestern Canakkale province. Authorities are still assessing possible damage. (AP)
