Exclusive: Juniper may buy Atrica
American communications information security giant in negotiations to buy Herzliya-based company; deal expected to fetch USD 200-250 million
Three months after it bought out Kagoor Networks for USD 67.5 million cash, Ynet has learned the director of American communications giant Juniper Networks (NASDAQ: JNPR) has begun proceedings to buy Israeli start-up Atrica Israel Ltd.
Sources in the communications market say the deal is expected to fetch USD 200-250 million. Avinoam Rubenstein, a company founder and director of Israel operations, refused to comment on the deal.
Atrica was founded in 2000, and has worked to develop communications systems. The company employs about 140 people in its Herzliya plant, and at offices in California's Silicon Valley, Japan and France.
Artica stock holders have invested about USD 150 million over the years.
Stockholders include Axel Partners, St. Paul Venture Capital, Benchmark Capital, Intel Capital, and Investor Growth Capital, as well as Israeli venture capital firms Etgar and Gemini.
Juniper Networks has operation in more than 50 countries and has more than 600 customers in the communications services industry. The company said in April that first quarter revenues rose 100 percent to $449.1 million.
