Saeb Erekat

Saeb Erekat is chief Palestinian negotiator with Israel and has been intimately involved in several rounds of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, including those conducted at Camp David (2000) and in Taba (2001).
He was born in Jerusalem in 1955.
In 1996, he was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) on the Fatah slate representing Jericho.
In 1991, Erekat served as Deputy Chairman of the Madrid Peace Delegation and was later involved in the Washington negotiations.
A former journalist, Erekat served on the editorial board of Al-Quds newspaper, the Palestinian daily with the highest circulation
Erekat graduated from San Francisco State University BA (1977), MA (1979), both in International Relations. During his studies he was elected president of the Arab Students Association.
Erekat earned his doctorate in Peace Studies at England's Bradford University, and later taught political science at al-Najah University in Nablus.
