Most expensive house in Israel sold
Austrian Jewish businessman Martin Schlaf, who has ties with several Israeli prime ministers and senior PA officials, sells luxury villa in Herzliya Pituah
The most expensive house in Israel was sold over the weekend for $22 million.
Jewish Austrian businessman Martin Schlaf - who is among the Jericho Casino owners - sold his luxury villa on Gali-Tehelet Street in the city of Herzliya Pituah. The buyers were the couple Zachi and Vivian Rachiv, who are among the controlling owners of the semiconductor company Trion Technology.
Schlaf is considered close to several prime ministers of Israel, including Ariel Sharon, and senior officials in the Palestinian Authority.
In the mid-1990s Schlaf purchased from the Canadian Embassy the four-dunum lot where the house sits at a price of $6.5 million. Five years were needed to build the house.
The garden alongside the house is located on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The house itself sits on one dunum of land and next to it is a seawater swimming pool. The house is equipped with the latest electronic devices and also includes a fallout shelter.
Schlaf put the house on the market over a year and a half ago, but he was unable to get the price he wanted.
