Newman's Own, the American producer of sauces owned by Hollywood icon Paul Newman, is in preliminary talks that could lead to the Israeli company Olvia producing sauces and spreads for the company.
Olivia is a sauce producer owned by the national dairy conglomerate Tenuva.
Senior managers from both companies recently held talks on such a partnership at the Newman's Own headquarters in Connecticut.
Contacts between the two companies are in the preliminary stages.
Paul Newman and his wife established Newman's Own in 1982, and all company profits are donated to charity. To date, the company has donated more than USD 150 million.
The company has also contributed to projects in Israel, which is part of the reason Newman's Own management felt it was logical to investigate working with Olivia.
Olivia produces and exports sauces abroad under a private label. Its products are sold in the U.S., mainly in health food stores.
