TEL AVIV - An unusual sight: Motorists traveling on the Ayalon freeway in Tel Aviv were no doubt surprised to discover a vehicle wrapped around a relay antenna to the side of the road.
The young driver, who was heading north, apparently lost control of his vehicle and drove over a fence, before the antenna finally put an end to his wild journey.
Miraculously, the driver emerged from the accident unscathed, but seemed to be shocked as he walked away from the accident scene. The seatbelt he was wearing apparently spared him a much more serious injury.
11 killed in road accidents this week
The surprised police officers dispatched to the scene could not help themselves and pulled out their cameras in order to capture the rare scene. The officers estimate the accident was a result of excessive speed.
Overall, 11 people died in car accidents across the country in the past week. Since the beginning of the year, 93 people died in road accidents.
