Vowing to take back Baghdad's mean streets, Iraq government said Thursday it would deploy 40,000 police and soldiers in the capital to hunt down insurgents and clamp a gauntlet of steel around the city.
The show of force by Iraqi forces would be the largest in the violence-wracked capital since the fall of Saddam Hussein and be a major test Iraq's fledgling police and military. (AP)
