The blocking of the highway during rush hour led to heavy gridlock that continued until Morasha Junction. The police who were called to the scene removed the protesters relatively quickly.
Police also discovered a bus parked near the moshav of Ganei Am and suspect that the driver, who was arrested, used the vehicle to transport the demonstrators.
History of demonstrations
Over the past few weeks, anti-disengagement demonstrators have blocked main highways in the center of the country. Peak activity occurred two weeks ago on “Big Monday,” with the blocking off of at least 40 intersections and main thoroughfares.
Maasiyahu Prison still holds a number of youths involved in that stunt but who refuse to give police and prison officials their identities.
