‘Give soldiers expulsion certificates’

Settlers should give troops who evacuate them document indicating they took part in “forceful expulsion of Jews,” Knesset Member Arieh Eldad says

TEL AVIV – Settlers should be provided with “expulsion certificates,” so they can fill in the details of every soldier who evacuates them and give it to the troops to remind them they took part in the forceful eviction of Jews, Knesset Member Arieh Eldad proposed Wednesday.

According to the proposal, the certificates would notify the troops they have joined the “chain of evil” comprised of those who have expelled Jews over the course of history.

Eldad wants the settlers to record every soldier’s name, rank, and IDF identification number before the certificates are handed out.

The proposed certificate would also read: “The holder of this document is allowed to present it and use it at any association or gathering of a body interesting in expelling Jews or actively involved in the activity.”

Eldad’s penchant for controversy

This is not the first time Eldad has stirred controversy in the framework of his anti-pullout battle.

Recently, he called for a campaign of civil disobedience during a speech at a Gaza Strip rally, and subsequently unveiled a website that proposed various illegal actions for the benefit of anti-pullout activists.

Among the measures proposed by Eldad was the refusal to pay taxes or follow IDF orders, as well as the shutting down of sea ports and airports through mass sit-down strikes.
