Moussa Arafat's son released

Organization says former intelligence chief's son will be released after claiming he 'admitted' betraying the Palestinian people

After nearly two days of contradictory reports around the question of who was responsible for killing of the Palestinian Authority’s former military intelligence commander, Moussa Arafat, and for the kidnapping of his son, the Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committee, officially took responsibility for the kidnapping and assassination.

Members of the organization said that the kidnapped son, Minhal Arafat, has been released after the being interroraged, following an agreement with the Fatah group.

The members said that Minhal ‘admitted’ during questioning that he took part in immoral acts against the Palestinian people.

In a Gaza press conference, the Popular Resistance Committee said that it had killed Moussa Arafat because of what it said was his corruption.

According to the organization, Arafat oversaw a drug and alcohol trade, and the group described him as a traitor to the Palestinians.

The Committee also blamed Moussa Arafat for the assassination of many Palestinian terrorist figures, such as the 1996 Israeli assassination of Hamas ‘engineer’ bomb maker Yihiye Ayash.

Dozens of masked Palestinian gunmen burst into Arafat’s home in Gaza on Thursday, overpowering his guards, before shooting Arafat in the street.
