Local business mogul Yitzhak Tshuva is expanding his operations in the U.S.
Delek Group Ltd., owned by Tshuva, has announced the acquisition of 25 gas station franchises, including convenience stores, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The group also purchased four plots in the city earmarked for the construction of additional stations.
The stations and real estate were purchased from BP Products North America Inc. for USD 33.5 million, not including inventory.
Under the agreement, the gas stations will continue to operate under the BP logo.
Delek’s activity is coordinated by subsidiary Delek USA and includes the operation of gas stations and convenience stores in eight southeast states, as well as a refinery in Texas, which the company bought for USD 72 million in the second quarter of 2005.
Delek operates 117 gas stations in Tennessee alone; all in all the company owns 328 stations.
Delek has raked in a cool NIS 2.3 billion (about USD 510 million) in earnings from its U.S. operations during 2005’s first quarter.
