Steve Madden flagship store to open in Israel in January; brand shoes popular among U.S. celebrities
The American shoe brand Steve Madden is coming to Israel, Israel's leading newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported Thursday.
The first flagship store will open at the beginning of January in Tel Aviv's Ramat Aviv Mall at an investment of NIS 1 million (about USD 222,000).
Steve Madden is a popular brand among young people in the United States, and its shoes are known to be worn by American celebrities such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson.
Steve Madden began his career as a shoe salesman and launched the brand in 1990. The company has a branded chain of stores, which consists of 108 branches all over the U.S., and markets to hundreds of sale points.
The shoes are also sold in well-known department stores such as Bloomingdale's, Macy's and Nordstrom.
Under the Steve Madden brand name, the company also markets sunglasses, belts, undergarments and clothes.
Steve Madden became a public company in 1993 and its revenues in 2004 amounted to USD 338 million.
