IDF and Border Guard forces apprehended 27 Sudanese nationals on Monday after they had crossed into Israel from Egypt.
Security officials estimate the Sudanese infiltrated the country to find work.
The Sudanese who arrive in Egypt from their war-torn country try to enter Israel in the hope Israel would grant them political asylum and employment opportunities.
The detained Sudanese citizens will soon undergo medical examinations and then be transferred to the Ktziot detention facility.
Immigration Administration officials said the problem Israel has with the Sudanese infiltrators stems from the fact that the two countries do not maintain diplomatic relations; the option of sending them back to Egypt is currently being examined, they added.
As of today 48 Sudanese citizens that infiltrated the country from Egypt are being held in Ktziot.
Breached border
Notably, thousands of Sudanese refugees are currently staying at a temporary camp in Egypt. They demand of the United Nations to be transferred to a western country where they can be granted legal status. The Sudanese are unwilling to settle for less, and refuse to remain in Egypt, where they claim their countrymen suffer acute discrimination.
A similar incident occurred on October of last year at the neighboring Azuz community, when eight Sudanese citizens showed up at the doorstep of one of the community's families and asked for water.
Heads of the southern regional councils have alerted in the past of the dangers of the breached border, through which drugs and women are smuggled, adding that it can be easily infiltrated by terrorists as well.
