A police officer from the Special Police Unit was shot and seriously injured in the head by Islamic Jihad wanted suspects on Tuesday in a village near Jenin.

A joint force comprised of the IDF soldiers and Border Police entered a village near Jenin in which Islamic Jihad wanted suspects were hiding. Ahmed Tubasi and Nidal abu-Saada managed to escape the home in which they were hiding and the security forces pursued the men.

The Islamic Jihad members opened fire, and a Border Police officer sustained head injuries from shots. The security forces returned fire and killed the two terrorists.

Security officials say the men belonged to an Islamic Jihad cell which was behind a string of terror attacks, and add that the terrorists killed on Tuesday were about to launch a number of attacks within Israel in the near future.
