First Arab mall to be built in Nazareth
Nazareth mall will mark first time large shopping center built in Israeli-Arab community
Nazareth will be the home of the first shopping mall in an Arab-Israeli town, a joint venture between Africa-Israel Investment Group, controlled by tycoon Lev Leviev, and the Big shopping centers Group.
The mall will be named "The Bishop's Palace", and the investment is estimated at NIS 70 million (approximately USD 15 million.)
The property for the mall was purchased by Africa-Israel back in 1992 from the Greek Patriarchy, but construction was delayed due to legal disagreement resolved a year ago.
Nazareth Mayor Ramez Jerayssi believes the mall will accelerate residential construction and will attract many tourists.
The mall will be open on Saturdays as well, despite the religious Leviev's involvement in the project, since its target shoppers are non-Jews and it will not be managed by Africa Israel.
