Settlers blame Olmert for terror attack

'Olmert’s victory speech is a speech of concessions. The policy of running away from terror brings murderousness,' Kedumim council leader tells Ynet

Kedumim council leader Daniela Weiss blamed Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for Thursday’s terror attack outside the West Bank settlement in which four people were killed.

“Olmert’s victory speech is a speech of concessions. The policy of running away from terror brings murderousness,” Weiss told Ynet.

Weiss said Olmert acted responsibly when he indicated readiness to make concessions. She said the Palestinians saw weakness in Olmert’s speech and decided to push him to withdraw from the territories faster by carrying out a terror attack.

“Olmert’s pullout plan will fuel murder. The Palestinians will try to push us through terror attacks. They are expediting Olmert after they saw the concessions that Ariel Sharon did and the concessions that Olmert will do. It is not a coincidence that the attack took place after the election,” Weiss said.

She said residents of Kedumim woke up Friday to anew reality. The place that hardly ever suffered terror attacks is in deep mourning. “Residents here are shocked, there is a silence caused by shock. We caught many terrorists in the past on their way to carry out attacks in the center. Everyone with common sense knows that danger is everywhere,” she added.

A Palestinian suicide bomber stopped an Israeli car disguised as a haredi hitchhiker and blew himself up once inside the car, killing four Israelis, including a Kedumim couple.

“The terrorist raised suspicions among passengers of another car. The driver who was killed apparently did not pay attention because of darkness. Residents here are usually very alert,” she said.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's armed wing, claimed responsibility for the attack.
