Son of Kedumim victims combats terror

(VIDEO) Lieutenant Colonel Oded Halevy commands Intelligence battalion behind thwarting of numerous terror attacks

VIDEO - Lieutenant Colonel Oded Halevy, son of Kedumim terror attack victims Raffie and Helena Halevy, has been combating terrorists in Gaza and south Israel for the past year-and-a-half.

The IDF Intelligence battalion commanded by Halevy is responsible for gathering information on terrorists making their way toward Israeli targets and then sending ground forces to intercept them.

“He’s a brilliant officer that has led his troops to many successes in the battlefield,” one of Halevy’s friends told Ynet.

Prior to last summer’s disengagement Halevy’s battalion was in charge of preventing terrorists from reaching settlements and IDF outposts in Gush Katif; since then the battalion has redeployed in the areas surrounding the Strip and along the Israel-Egypt border.

“Not too many people realize this, but many acts in which terror attacks are thwarted are carried out by Oded and his soldiers,” his friend said.

“It is a thankless task, as the forces that do the actual firing get all the credit, but he has never complained and has always focused on his work.”

Many Southern Command officers phoned Halevy Friday morning to offer their condolences.

“No one is immune from terror, but many of us told Oded that we must continue to fight it,” one officer said.
