The new Center Hotel in Tel Aviv
The 50 year-old hotel in Dizengoff square underwent serious renovations to become a boutique hotel dedicated to the city it is located in.
Dizengoff Square in the center of Tel Aviv is home to the Cinema Hotel, built in the old building of the mythical Esther Cinema. Across from it is another small hotel (56 rooms) that has been operating for over 50 years, also built in Bauhaus style, the Center Hotel.
The Center hotel was renovated lately, designed in a special theme called "Hotel dedicated to Tel Aviv." Both hotels belong to the Atlas chain.
The people responsible for this design concept are Michael Hai and Martin Erev from Vision Hospitality Company. According to Michael Hai the intention was to give the hotel its own unique character, so it won't stay in the shadow of the Cinema hotel.

They chose a design "Dedicated to Tel Aviv" meaning that every guest staying in the hotel will experience Tel Aviv up close.
To fulfill their vision, the hallways were designed like a Tel Avivian boulevards and the doors to the rooms – with the help of photographs – as Bauhaus houses. Some of the rooms feature balconies facing Dizengoff Square, and in two of them they placed a "man" and "woman" who are talking using cups connected with a string, just as we used to do when we were kids.
Additionally, the designers chose a few local artists to paint Tel Aviv scenes, and the paintings adorn the rooms and lobby. The lobby is decorated by black-and-white sofas, transparent chairs designed by Phillip Stark, and a small library with books and albums, all about the Tel Aviv.
The Mezzanine has a screening room with short movies about the city, some of them purchased from the Spielberg archives. The hotel also offers guests free bicycles and breakfast is served at the adjacent Cinema hotel.
