Warren Buffet coming to Israel
‘Oracle from Omaha,’ who recently purchased Iscar from Wertheimer family for USD 4 billion, to meet with PM Olmert, tour Iscar plant in Galilee
American investment mogul Warren Buffet is scheduled to arrive in Israel in two weeks for a two-day visit.
During his visit, which will take place just before the Jewish New Year, the “Oracle from Omaha” is expected to meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and tour the Iscar plant in the Galilee, which he recently purchased from the Wertheimer family.
Some four months ago insurance and investment company Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which is controlled by Buffet, signed a deal for the purchase of 80 percent of Iscar for USD 4 billion. Buffet and his representatives made the transaction without having visited the plant, but now the second richest man on the planet has finally decided to meet Iscar founder Stef Wertheimer.
It is not yet clear whether Buffet’s new wife Astrid Menks will join him, but his long-time associate Charlie Munger will accompany the billionaire to Israel.
