Political party of Thailand's ousted prime minister has died, party leader says

None

Ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra resigned from his ruling party Tuesday, submitting a resignation letter from London after more than 200 members left the once all-powerful party in face of a threat of banishment from politics, a party leader said.

Another party leader pronounced it as the death knell for the longtime ruling party. "The legacy of the Thai Rak Thai party is over. The Thai Rak Thai has died along with Thaksin Shinawatra," said another deputy leader, Pongpol Adireksan. (AP)
