Super-Pharm acquires Chinese chain

Israeli drugstore chain buys Chinese Ensure chain, which will become part of Super-Pharm; company recently completes conversion of first three branches

The Israeli drugstore chain Super-Pharm has recently completed the acquisition of the Ensure Chinese drugstore chain, located in the Guizhou province in southern China.

The chain, which includes 53 branches and has an annual turnaround of USD 20 million, will become part of the Israeli chain, which currently operates in Israel and Poland.

Throughout the last three months, three out of the 53 branches have been redesigned to fit the Super-Pharm format, and will operate under the company's title, logo and marketing concept.

The other 50 branches, all medium or small size stores, will be converted in the coming year.

The Super-Pharm chain currently has 123 branches in Israel and another 10 branches in Poland. By 2010, the company hopes to have 50 stores in Poland.
