The body of a 13-year-old girl was found Wednesday evening in the bathroom of the Nofei Golan high school in the northern town of Katzrin.
Golan district policemen began searching for the girl late Wednesday afternoon after she failed to return home. Searches were conducted in the vicinity of her home and school.
Her body was discovered in the early evening, police reports indicate there were visible marks of violence on her body. An emergency medical team was called to the scene where a doctor pronounced her death, which is being investigated as an apparent murder.

"Around 6 p.m. we received word of the girls' disappearance," said Brig. Gen. Nir Mariash, who heads the Galilee police forces. "We began searching the area and shortly thereafter her body was discovered in the washroom of her school with visible signs of violence on it."
Police sources said that the girl had apparently been stabbed several times; adding to the plausibility that she was murdered. Several leads are currently being pursued by investigators who have already pulled in several suspects for questioning.
Reports indicate that the girl's mother reported her missing after she failed to return home from school. Friends say that the girl, an eighth grade student, was not involved in any criminal activity, nor is any member of her family.
Social services officials from the local municipality have arrived at the family's home and are trying to help them deal with the difficult news.
The girl is the youngest daughter of a family that has lived in Katzrin for a long time. She is survived by her parents and two older brothers. News of her death was met with shock as it spread quickly though the small community.
