Tadiran Batteries, Hexagram strike USD 18 million deal

Israeli company to supply lithium batteries to one of world's leading manufacturers of automatic reading systems for water, gas and electric systems

Tadiran Batteries will provide lithium batteries to the American company Hexagram in a deal worth USD 18 million for five years.

Hexagram is one of the world's leading manufacturers of automatic meter reading (AMR) systems for water, gas and electric meters.

Tadiran Batteries has been serving as Hexagram's lithium battery supplier for many years now. Company officials noted that Tadiran batteries installed in Hexagram's AMR systems more than 23 years ago are still working.

The unique features of Tadiran's lithium batteries – high energy density, high capacity, small form factor and wide temperature range – are required by high-tech industries, including surveillance systems through GPS for monitoring and surveillance applications, internal security, receptor systems and broadcasting of smart toll systems, wireless sensors, radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, emergency medical systems and military systems.

Tadiran Batteries develops, manufactures and markets unchargable lithium batteries and holds the largest market share in this field.

The company is owned by the Saft company, whose shares are traded in the French Stock Exchange.
