New online: Israel explained
Israeli publicity blog, Guide to recently converted and selection of video clips
A small step for the consulate, a giant leap for Israeli publicity: Someone at the communications and publicity department of the Israeli consulate in New York understood that Israel’s monstrous image in the world should be balanced in the only likely way: By presenting real imagery from Israel, and by using the most effective resource: The internet.
The consulate has therefore launched a new and informative new blog called “IsRealli”, pun intended. In this blog the consulate shows the side of Israel web surfers around the world can relate to: Culture, music, nightlife and tourism.
The blog includes flattering videos of Tel Aviv’s sexy beaches, interesting characters, spas, information about Israeli technology and an elaboration on George Clooney’s promise to Shimon Peres to visit the country.
The maintainers of the blog hope young Israelis will respond to the challenge and send them appropriate images and texts that can improve Israel’s image in the world. Other versions of the blog in Spanish, German, French and Arabic should be launched shortly.
A convert’s guide
The government portal launched a guide for residents going through an Orthodox conversion process; the only officially recognized conversion procedure. The guide, written in Hebrew, explains who is eligible for conversion, and provides information about the conversion of minors, the necessary paperwork and Judaism studies. It also answers some frequently asked questions on the topic.
New on the Tube
The spirit of a statue: the fantastic talent of the Frenchman Jerome Moras, who is able to portray two characters at the same time. Definitely a must see. (Sender: Rita Gefen)
The sticker dance: an odd but very cool clip. Two bored techies create a pixilated character on their office window, while using common post-its. They then animate it and make it dance. (Sender: Eitan Caspi)
White course: get to know Tal Zomer, a talented young Israeli snowboarder, and see his wonderful performance.
Band the drum: So nice! A virtuoso drummer and a talented guitar player improvising. Just because, but funky. (Sender: Yaron Orbach)
A master of impressions: speaking of talent, take a look at this phenomenon/artist, who can imitate Jimi Hendrix’s legendary guitar using only his voice. (Sender: Amit Yurgeson)
Forward march!: A beautiful and daring military drill exercise by the US Navy.
