Microsoft Israel expands

World leader in software establishing development center in Herzliya in addition to Haifa center expansion in same year

Shortly after the company boosted its research and development activities at the Matam high-tech industrial park in Haifa, Microsoft Israel Ltd. is expanding yet again, this time with a new R&D Center in Herzliya.

 

The new center will recruit 150 engineers throughout the year, and is expected to employ about 550 developers by the end of 2008.

 

The center will research and develop internet applications, as well as security and telecommunications products.

 

Moshe Lichtman, corporate vice president and head of Israel R&D for Microsoft, said that the company intended on creating products and services that communication’s companies could use, allowing them to offer customers a variety of internet applications beyond VoIP.

 

Microsoft has allocated hundreds of millions of dollars to the new centre, where it plans to relocate all of its R&D centers in Israel – excluding the Haifa center - by the end of 2008.
