VIDEO - Hundreds of Palestinian security prisoners who were released from Israeli jails arrived at the Palestinian Authority Friday morning. The 255 prisoners left the Ketziot prison shortly before 7 am, and made their way to the Bitunia crossing near Ramallah, where they crossed over to the Palestinian side. Shortly after 10 am the prisoner boarded the buses sent by the Palestinian Authority as they were gesturing the V sign. The buses carrying the prisoners were adorned with pictures of President Mahmoud Abbas and his predecessor, Yaser Aaraft. Hundreds of people arrived at the crossing to greet the released prisoners. Meanwhile, a group of Israeli right-wing activists gathered on the Israeli side of the crossing to protest the freeing of the prisoners. "Just like in the past, terrorists who were released murdered again, here too, the same people who are being released will carry out the next killings," one of the protesters said. The prisoners were taken by bus to the Muqataa compound in Ramallah, where they will be greeted by top PLO and PA officials, headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is expected to congratulate them on their release. From the Muqataa the prisoners will be transferred to their homes. A modest welcome is expected in many places, as PA officials have said in recent days that they were not satisfied with the list as it had been decided one-sidedly by Israel. Some 150 of the prisoners who were released Friday have been held at the Ketziot prison, while the other 100 have been held at other jails across Israel and were brought to Ketziot Thursday night for final checkups prior to their release.
