Poland: 50 receive medals for aiding Jews during Holocaust

Polish President Lech Kaczynski awarded medals of recognition to 50 people who rescued Jews during World War II.

 

Among the recipients of the awards were a German officer who aided Jewish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman, whose story was the basis for the Roman Polanski's highly acclaimed film "The Pianist". (AP)
