Yigal Amir's request to attend son's bris rejected

None

The Israeli Prison Service on Monday rejected the request filed by Yigal Amir, assassin of late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, to receive a furlough from prison to attend the brit milah of his son with wife Larisa Trembovler. Trembovler is scheduled to give birth in late October.

The IPS said that Amir's request was denied out of concern for his safety from the public and the public's safety from Amir. The IPS also rejected Amir's contingency request to hold the ceremony inside the prison walls. Amir's attorneys have since filed an urgent appeal to the Tel Aviv District Court. (Raanan Ben-Zur)
