Brig. Gen. Yair Golan nominated to head IDF Homefront Command

Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi's recommendation to nominate Brigadier-General Yair Golan as commander of the IDF's Homefront Command. Golan, who will be promoted to major-general, is currently the commander of the Judea and Samaria division.

Golan is set to replace Maj. Gen. Gershon Yitzhak who has announced his intention to retire from the military. (Hanan Greenberg)
