Davidka mortar found in archeological excavations in Western Wall

A Davidka homemade Israeli mortar used in Jerusalem during the initial stages of the 1948 War of Independence has been found during archeological excavations in the Western Wall plaza.

 

The mortar was taken by sappers to a site outside Jerusalem, where it will be destroyed. (Efrat Weiss)
