2 rockets hit southern communities, IDF strikes in Gaza

Rocket fire proves unfazed by Independence Day celebrations as two land in Negev communities causing no injuries. Palestinians report 4 Islamic Jihad operatives injured in IAF Gaza strike

Heated holiday time in the southern region: Two Qassam rockets were fired from Gaza Thursday: One landed in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council and the other in an open area in the western Negev. A third rocket landed within Gaza. No injuries or damage were reported.

 

Meanwhile, the IAF struck in northern Gaza: Palestinian sources reported that four Islamic Jihad operatives were injured in the incident, two of them severely. Earlier, the IDF announced it had attacked a  Qassam cell identified in northern Gaza. The soldiers reportedly confirmed a hit.

 

The firing on the southern communities has been taking place since Wednesday. Five armed Palestinians fired a Qassam rocket Wednesday from southern Gaza towards the Eshkol regional Council area. The rocket landed in an open area, causing no damage. Wednesday also saw the IAF strike a terrorist cell identified by IDF forces operating in southern Gaza.

 

The Palestinians reported that an Islamic Jihad operative was killed and four others were injured in an IAF strike, three of them sustaining severe injuries. A short while after the strike, the Palestinians fired six mortar shells, which landed in open areas near the security fence. No injuries or damage were reported.
