Mynet – Bringing everyone to the center

Ynet, Yedioth Network launch Mynet, Israel's largest local-news internet portal, aiming to change way of local news coverage by bringing periphery closer to us

Ynet and Yedioth Local Newspapers' Network launched a joint venture on Wednesday called Mynet. The new internet portal is the largest hub of local news in Israel, and will offer its readers a wide variety of news, content and services in real time and all the time.

Ynet sees the launching of the portal as one of the most significant landmarks in its history, the vision behind its conception owing to our recognition of the internet's capacity to empower the individual or community by giving them the tools necessary to divert the public spotlight to their isolated corners.

Mynet seeks to provide the periphery with a genuine platform for content appealing to a narrower public, whether partitioned by geography or interests.

We sought to bring local community news to national attention, allowing readers from anywhere in the country to get to know a neighboring or distant town intimately. We also hoped to give readers living abroad a chance to stay connected to their hometowns in a way they couldn't before.

Mynet will focus on municipal news, cultural activities and sporting events, as well reports on local topics of interest that are usually ignored by the national media – especially in education, community affairs and

real estate.

We hope to establish a team of readers who, after receiving special training, will also contribute as writers. We've also built a network of forums designed to let readers interact with people from their area, or who are interested in the same topics.

Mynet hopes to play an important role in the upcoming municipal elections this November, proving daily coverage from the campaigns.
