Keshet TV chief beaten in Tel Aviv park

Avi Nir hit with clubs by unidentified assailants while walking his dog in public park; police launch investigation

Avi Nir, the CEO of the Keshet Broadcasting TV network was beaten by unidentified assailants as he was walking his dog in Tel Aviv's upscale Neot Akefa neighborhood Monday night.

 

An initial investigation into the incident revealed that the assailants asked Nir to identify himself and then attacked him with clubs.

 

The 47-year-old television executive, who sustained injuries to his face and arm, was evacuated to the Sourasky Medical Center in the city.

 

At around 8 pm police received a report of a man who was beaten in a public park. A police patrol was dispatched to the scene, but the assailants had already fled. A passerby took Nir into his home until paramedics arrived.

 

Investigators are expected to take Nir's testimony later today in the hope that it will shed light on the incident.
