Only 2% of Israeli households buy food online
Survey ordered by Food Industries Association reveals Israeli consumer prefers sale offers directly affecting their expenditure rather than taking part in raffles or receiving gifts
About 2% of Israeli households shop for food on the internet, according to a survey ordered by the Manufacturers Association of Israel's Food Industries Association and conducted by the Geocartography Institute.
The data also show that the Israeli consumer prefers sale offers which directly affect their expenditure in the current purchase, rather than taking part in raffles or receiving gifts.
The two favored sale offers when shopping for food are "two for the price of one" and the option of buying one product and get another product for free.
Ten percent of the respondents said they prefer the option of buying a product and purchasing another one for a much lower price, while 3% prefer receiving a gift when purchasing products for a certain sum. A similar percentage prefers receiving a gift with the product purchased.
The survey also revealed that a sale offer of two identical products for one price is favored among people aged 35 to 54, among families with a high income and among large families.
People aged 18 to 54 from traditional and large families prefer the option of buying one product and get another product for free.
