Petrol price falls by 0.79%
Octane-95 gasoline now costs NIS 5.04 per liter in self-service fueling; addition for service will not exceed 13 agorot per liter
Petrol prices fell by 0.79% on Saturday at midnight. The price of octane-95 gasoline went down to NIS 5.04 (about $1.2) per liter in self-serving fueling, while the addition for service will not exceed 13 agorot (3 cents) per liter.
The price reduction was derived from the drop in oil prices. However, the US dollar's appreciation slightly weakened the potential price reduction.
In the southern city of Eilat, the price of octane-95 gasoline dropped 0.91% to NIS 4.37 ($1.05), while the addition for service will not exceed 11 agorot (2.6 cents) per liter.
The prices of octane-96 gasoline are not longer supervised by the National Infrastructures Ministry since last month.
Ministry officials noted that the reported prices were the highest prices gas stations are allowed to charge from their customers, and therefore consumers were advised to compare prices between different fueling stations. Such a price comparison could help save about 5% in fuel prices and even more.
The National Infrastructures Ministry updates the petrol prices at the end of each month. The prices are determined according to the oil prices in Europe on the first five days of each month's seven last working days.
However, as the price of oil is in dollars, a rise or drop in the dollar's exchange rate may also influence the petrol prices. Due to the taxation on fuel, which is fixed and is a key elements in the overall price, the rises and drops in the gasoline prices in Israel are not as sharp as the rises and drops in the oil prices.
