A taste of some of the main musical events taking place across Israel this week

Israel Kibbutz Orchestra

Distinguished violinist Miriam Fried plays the popular Bruch Violin Concerto in G-minor and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade Melancolique for violin. Other works on the program are Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite and Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds. Internationally acclaimed conductor is her husband Paul Biss.

Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra

Light classical series ClassiPop features the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in co-operation with Music Angels, Herzliya in a program with Overtures by Verdi, Rossini and J. Strauss and Brahms epic Piano Concerto Number 1 with guest pianist Vitaij Kuprij, who also will perform a rock piece he composed. Conductor is Theodore Kuchar.

Phoenix Ensemble

The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva hosts Myrna Herzog’s Ensemble Phoenix in a highly recommended concert which includes ‘The Art of the Fugue’ with works by Bach and Vivaldi and new pieces written by David Loeb (USA) and Luiz Otavio Braga (Brasil) especially written for the ensemble and orchestra.

Annual Culture of Peace festival to mark 30th anniversary of peace treaty with Egypt

 

Chazanut Concert in Petach Tikva

A special chazanut concert on the occasion of Yom Yerushalayim will be performed by top Israeli cantors, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Yuval Cantorial Choir under the direction of Dr. Mordechai Sobol. .

 

Cantors performing will be international celebrity Moshe Schulhof who began his cantorial career in New York at the age of 6 years, British born Simon Cohen who made aliyah in 1995 and studied at the Tel Aviv Cantorial Institute, Israel Rand, Shlomo Glick and Yakov Lemer.

 

Dr. Sobol and the Yuval Choir have made a major contribution to the resurrection of Jewish art form liturgical music over the last fifteen years. This concert is a must for all lovers of chazanut.

Fundraising Chazanut Concert for A.V. Israel

A.V. Israel, a registered non-profit organization helping deaf children to listen and speak is once again presenting a chazanut concert featuring leading Israeli cantors Yitzchak Meir Helfgot and Chaim Adler accompanied by the Tel Aviv Cantorial Institute Chorus under the direction of Marc Temerlis.

 

The program entitled ‘Great Voices of the Jewish World’ will be compered by Colin Schachat (Baritone Soloist). Accompanist and musical arranger is Raymond Goldstein.

 

The Benefit Concert will be held on Wednesday June 3 at Heichal Hatarbut, Rehov Yerushalayim, 33 Kfar Saba, commencing 8.00pm.

Gala Event for Three Choirs and Orchestra

The HaSharon Orchestra of Kfar Shmaryahu, in conjunction with three classical choirs, (Oriah of Savyon, Gitit of Haifa and Noam of Rehovot,) will join forces to perform a concert series with Puccini’s Messa di Gloria as the principle item on the program. Other works include the Overture to Nabucco by Verdi and other choral selections.
