Gap to open in Herzliya's Arena Mall

American clothing brand to open store spanning 1,000 square meters in seaside mall by early 2010

American fashion brand Gap, which will be making its debut in Israel in the coming months, will be opening one of its stores in Herzliya's seaside Arena Mall.

The store will cater to men, women and children and will span an area of 1,000 square meters (10,763 square feet).

The mall is owned by Jacky Ben-Zaken and Avraham Nanikashvili's Menofim Finance and was purchased from Moti Zisser's Elbit Imaging in 2007, at the price of NIS 538 million ($130 million).

Zisser was granted the franchise rights for the Gap brand in Israel.

The Arena Mall Gap store is slated to open 30 days after the Tel Aviv store, between December 2009 and January 2010.

A Banana Republic store is also scheduled to be opened in the mall in the future.

Ben-Zaken has invested some NIS 60 million ($14.5 million) in renovating the mall, and plans to bring new brands to the shopping center to shatter the mall's expensive image.

New stores to open in the mall besides Gap include the Gali shoe chain, children's cloths brand Solog, and more.

The renovated mall is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2009.
