Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra  

Special Memorial Concerts for the late conductor Mendi Rodan, one of Israel’s most prominent and popular musicians. The orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Noam Sheriff with guest artists Lilia Grazova (soprano), Demetrios Karamintzas (oboe) and Avshalom Sarid (viola).

 

The program features Noam Sheriff’s Concerto for Viola and Strings, Martinu’s Concerto for Oboe and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony Number 4.

 

Concerts will be held at Henry Crown Hall, Jerusalem, commencing 8 pm on Wednesday June 17 and Thursday June 18.

Voices 2000 

In a program titled ‘The Choirs that took Europe by Storm’ visiting vocal ensembles from the Zurich University of the Arts and the Cantissimo Ensemble from Germany will be conducted by Markus Utz.

 

Motets and festive pieces for choir and organ by Bach, Schutz, Mendelssohn and others will be performed by the visiting choral groups.

The Jerusalem concert will be followed by a guided walking tour in the nearby area.

 

Yuval Chazanut Choir  

Under the direction of Maestro Mordechai Sobol the Yuval Choir in conjunction with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will present a chazanut concert with some of Israel’s most famous cantors participating.

 

Guest cantors will be Haim Adler, Meir Helfgott, Yaacov Motzen and Moshe Shulhof.

 

Wednesday, June 17 Mann Auditorium, Tel Aviv 8 pm

 

More Chazanut Concerts  

Cantors Yisroel Rand and Zudik Greenvald will be accompanied by the Raanana Symphonette, the Shirat Chazanut Choir, Modiin, together with children’s choirs in a chazanut concert.

 

Sunday, June 14 Netanya Cultural Center 8 pm

 

Marking 42 years since the reunification of Jerusalem a special chazanut concert will feature leading cantors Naftali and Netanel Hershtik, Dov Heller, Benzion Miller and Shlomo Glick with the Camary Vocal Ensemble.

 

Pianist and music arranger Raymond Goldstein will provide the musical accompaniment.

 

Sunday, June 14 Jerusalem Theater, Jerusalem 8.30 pm

 

Herzliya Chamber Orchestra  

Enjoy an evening of great operatic melodies performed by some of Israel’s leading opera stars. Excerpts by Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, Dvorak and others.

 

The orchestra under the direction of Harvey Bordowitz will accompany Larissa Tetuyev (soprano), Aylin Ates(mezzo soprano), Guy Mannheim (tenor) and Noah Briger (bass baritone).
